OPR Nasdaq is an automated trading strategy for ProRealTime based on the Open Price Range (OPR) of the first 15 minutes of the Nasdaq session.
The trading robot automatically monitors breakouts of the Open Price Range. When price breaks out of the OPR and the strategy's different filters validate the signal, a Long or Short position is automatically opened.
Several signal validation filters are used to avoid certain unfavourable market conditions, including volatility on a higher timeframe, excessive price movement on a lower timeframe and the underlying market trend.
As soon as a position is opened, it is protected by an initial stop placed automatically. The stop then evolves into a trailing stop according to the trading algorithm's rules. The trade is normally closed by the trailing stop, but may also be closed following an opposite signal or 10 minutes before the opening of the next session.
A position may be held overnight when the strategy's conditions are met. No positions are held over the weekend.
The strategy was developed and optimised using nearly 6 years of historical data, then monitored outside the development period and in live trading. Detailed results are presented below.
The backtests results shown below are based on 1 Micro Nasdaq (MNQ) contract, without reinvesting profits, including comissions and a 0.5 point spread.

OPR Nasdaq has been used in live trading since 2025. As the strategy has evolved during this period, several successive versions of the trading robot have been used.
The results shown below are based on 1 Micro Nasdaq (MNQ) contract, without reinvesting profits, including commissions and a 0.5 point spread.

⚠️ The best performance is achieved on Mini Nasdaq (NQ), while remaining close on Micro Nasdaq (MNQ), as the "Point Value / Commission per Contract" ratio is more favourable on NQ.
